Customer satisfaction tracking for grocery stores and supermarkets

Grocery shopping is frequent and quick; customers experience even a small hiccup again and again and quietly switch to another store. Comvo measures each branch's daily performance with short surveys at checkout and the exit, and passes freshness, stock and waiting issues to the branch manager the same day.

Key challenges in the industry

  • Checkout queues at peak hours

Waiting time is one of the most common factors that lower satisfaction, but which branch and which hour it occurs in is not visible.

  • Freshness and shelf order

Problems in the produce, butcher and bakery sections are noticed only when customers complain.

  • Out-of-stock items

A promoted product missing from the shelf often leaves a deeper mark than the promotion itself.

  • Many small branches

Regular audits from headquarters are costly for neighborhood-scale branches.

Touchpoints to measure

You can create a separate survey for each touchpoint. You decide the questions, scales and question types (star, score, recommendation, choice, open-ended comment) and deliver them at the right moment by QR code, SMS or email.

  • Checkout and self-checkout
  • Produce, butcher and bakery sections
  • Promotion and discount areas
  • Online orders and home delivery
  • Loyalty card transactions

Sample survey

Customers answer the survey on their phone without installing an app. Each question opens on its own screen, and a follow-up question about the reason appears automatically after a low score. You can define all questions and steps as you wish and customize the design to match your corporate identity.

  1. 1-5 (CSAT)Customer satisfaction (CSAT), 1-5: 1 is the lowest and 5 the highest satisfaction.
  2. Not at all, less than 5 minutes, 5-10 minutes, more than 10 minutesMultiple choice question; used to identify the reason behind a negative experience (root cause).
  3. Yes / Partially / NoSingle-choice question; the selected answer can be used as a condition in rules.
  4. 1-51-5 rating scale; a low score indicates a negative experience and can become a case depending on your rules.

Questions, scales and conditional logic are tailored to your business. Responses in the preview are not sent anywhere.

How Does It Work?

  1. 1 The customer scans the QR code on the receipt or at the checkout; the branch is identified automatically.
  2. 2 The short survey takes a few seconds; a low score opens a root cause question.
  3. 3 A negative response is assigned to the branch manager as a case.
  4. 4 The manager reviews the section or checkout setup during the day and records the action.
  5. 5 In the weekly report, branches are compared on waiting, freshness and stock.

Sample alert rules

  • If "more than 10 minutes" is selected for checkout waiting time, a case is assigned to the branch manager with a 4-hour resolution time and high priority.
  • If the fresh product score is 2 or lower, the case goes to the section supervisor.
  • If the same branch receives three low scores in one day, a notification is sent to the regional manager.

In these examples, a low score means 2 or below on a 1-5 scale, 6 or below on the 0-10 recommendation score and 1-3 stars in online reviews. You set the thresholds and resolution times.

Metrics to track

  • Checkout experience

You track waiting time responses by branch and time of day.

  • Section quality

You compare freshness and shelf order scores across branches.

  • Stock-related dissatisfaction

You see in which branches product-not-found responses are rising.

  • Branch ranking

The best branches and those needing support stand out, broken down by region.

Frequently asked questions

Will customers fill in a survey at peak hours?

The survey consists of three or four questions and opens on the phone without installing an app; most customers complete it in under half a minute. A QR code printed on the receipt or bag also lets customers complete the survey at home.

Can online orders be measured too?

Yes. When an online order is delivered, your platform sends the event via API and the customer receives a survey by SMS or email.

Won't reports get confusing with many branches?

Reports work with the organization breakdown: headquarters compares regions, and regional managers compare the branches in their region.
